Children in Emergencies & Climate Change
Safeguarding children in disasters, displacement, and climate-driven crises.
Children are the first and foremost to suffer in emergencies — and PAHCHAAN is there to respond. From earthquakes and floods to public health crises, our teams mobilize rapidly to deliver psychosocial support, ensure physical safety, and reduce trauma. We also strengthen local capacity to protect children before, during, and after crises.
Key Initiatives:
- Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Operations: Deployed in response to floods, earthquakes, and incidents of violence — including in DG Khan, Rajanpur, and the Jaranwala Incident — to support affected children and families.
- Mental Health Support for Flood Victims: Specialized Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) sessions and frontline worker training in South Punjab and other crisis-hit regions.
- COVID-19 Response: Developed and distributed Urdu translated and culturally adapted Tip Sheets for psychological first aid, while providing remote counselling and emergency child protection.
- Trauma Support in Conflict Areas: Focused interventions post-Jaranwala incident and communal distress situations, especially for displaced or marginalized communities.
