Since 2005, PAHCHAAN has been at the forefront of combating violence against children, striving to prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation in vulnerable communities. We have built a robust child protection network by forming Hospital-Based, School-Based, and Community-Based Child Protection Committees across 12 high-burden districts. These committees foster vital collaboration among healthcare providers, educators, social workers, and local authorities, ensuring that cases are quickly identified, managed, and referred for comprehensive support.Since 2009, PAHCHAAN has managed over 1,650 confirmed cases of child abuse and neglect, with 70.5% involving severe neglect and 66.1% perpetrated by immediate family members
One of our significant achievements includes initiating the first hospital-based Child Protection Unit (CPU) in South Asia at the Children’s Hospital Lahore, in 2009 which has managed over 2,300 confirme cases d child abuse and neglect cases over a decade
Our approach goes beyond immediate intervention. We empower frontline professionals through targeted training and capacity-building programs, holding over 60 Child Protection Meetings between 2022 and 2024 to strengthen early detection and response systems. Real-life case studies, like that of Iram, underline the urgent need for our work and inspire our ongoing commitment to safeguard every child’s right to a safe and nurturing environment.
